The new all-electric Tiago EV from Tata Motors has been introduced in India, with initial pricing beginning at Rs 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The first 10,000 units are priced as follows; according to Tata, the remaining 2,000 will only be accessible to current Tata EV owners. Right present, the Tiago EV is the least expensive electric vehicle available for purchase in India. On October 10, Tata will begin accepting reservations for the Tiago EV, with delivery starting in January 2023.
When it comes to design, the Tiago EV differs from the regular Tiago in that it has several EV-specific features. The front grille has been updated to match the Tigor EV; most of it is now closed off, and the area closest to the headlights now features tri-arrow patterning. The trim accent under the grille has been dyed blue, and an EV badge has also been added to it. Similar to the Tigor EV, the front bumper also features the tri-arrow patterning for the center air vent. In contrast to its bigger sister, the Tiago has a distinctive wheel design.
The EV’s interior is essentially the same as the regular Tiago’s, with the exception of leatherette seats on higher trim levels and the addition of blue accents. Regarding features, the Tiago EV is equipped with an Android Auto and Apple CarPlay-compatible 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system as well as automatic temperature control. ZConnect connected car technology, which has 45 linked capabilities and is not available in the internal combustion Tiago, is also included in the basic package. Additional amenities include auto headlights, rain-sensing wipers, a cooled glovebox, tire pressure monitoring, cruise control (originally available on the Tiago), and a Harman audio system.
There are two different battery packs available for the Tiago EV from Tata Motors. Customers have the choice of a 19.2 kWh or a larger 24 kWh battery pack. The larger pack has a range of up to 315 km (MIDC), whereas the former claims a range of up to 250 km per charge (MIDC). The battery pack affects the electric motor’s output as well. A 45 kW motor producing 105 Nm of peak torque powers the smaller unit, while a 55 kW motor producing 114 Nm powers the larger pack.

The MG Comet, the company’s smallest electric vehicle, is now available for purchase from MG Motor India for Rs. 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom). This is an initial beginning price; full variant-specific prices will be disclosed at a later time. Reservations for the EV will open on May 15. The Wuling Air, which is now offered for sale in Chinese markets, serves as the model for the small electric vehicle. The MG ZS EV, which was introduced to the Indian market a few years prior, would be followed by the Comet as the brand’s second electric vehicle.
Even though the car is unique and unlike anything else on the market, it can be said that it has a modern appearance. Design elements of the car include LED daytime running lamps that connect the tail lamps and go over the face of the car and into the ORVMs. Even though the remainder of the car is boxy and unappealing in the conventional sense, it has a certain kind of style that one may grow accustomed to and possibly even like with time.
The car is available in a choice of vibrant, stylish color schemes and stickers that will appeal to the younger demographic. Safety features on the MG Comet EV include a tire pressure monitoring system, dual front airbags, ABS+ EBD, and a reverse parking camera and sensors, among others. Additionally enticing is the car’s interior, which has a high-end, well-built appearance.
The vehicle’s interior has two screens: one for the center console and one for the digital instrument cluster. Both 10.25-inch panels provide wireless support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A digital key that may be shared by two people and an iSmart with a number of connected automobile capabilities are among the other interior amenities. Space is a consideration, but according to MG, four people may fit inside the car without any problems.
A 17.3 Kwh lithium-ion battery pack, capable of 41.42 horsepower and 110 Nm of torque, powers the Comet EV. From 0% to 100%, the charging process is expected to take 7 hours. The vehicle has a stated range of 230 kilometers. The vehicle’s hardware consists of drum brakes in the back and disc brakes up front. McPherson struts are used in the front of the car, while multi-link coil suspension is used in the back. It is constructed on MG’s recently released Global Smart Vehicle Electric (GSEV) platform.
